CAPITAL K9 ASSOCIATION

PROUDLY PROTECTING THOSE WHO PROTECT US

When the public is in danger…they call the Police..
When the Police are in danger…they call SWAT..
When SWAT is in danger they call…K-9!

Passion and Respect

VESTING K9s.
IT’S WHAT WE DO.

Without hesitation, our K-9 Partners would protect us with their lives, why not aid in protecting their lives as well?

DONATE NOW.
SAVE A K-9!

Becoming a K-9 Handler is not a job…It’s a way of life!

K-9 is not for everyone. Those few who have been selected for this elite position develop a bond with their four-legged partner that is indescribable.  The training is stressful, but rewarding when a missing child is located, a criminal is apprehended, or narcotics or explosives are detected.

Our goal in establishing this exciting organization was to create a bond amongst existing members, welcome new members, and honor those who have served in the past. We are also expanding our donations to not just bullet proof vests, but training and other safety equipment as well. We are dedicated to educating law enforcement and the public of the various functions that K-9 teams perform on a daily basis and to give back to the community.

In some of the most dangerous situations involving Police Departments across the nation, the K-9 Teams are often the first to be called to the front line. At almost 2,000 Line of Duty Deaths since 1940, the Law Enforcement Community has lost entirely too many K-9’s as a result of inadequate or unavailable body armor. Schultz’s Law, established in 2011, orders similar punishment for causing harm or death to a Police K-9, to that of causing harm of death to a human Officer. This is a major step for those in the K-9 world; however, this does not bring our beloved partners back. Without hesitation, our K-9 Partners would protect us with their lives, why not aid in protecting their lives as well?

In April of 2011, the newly reinstated Trenton Police K-9 Unit established the Capital K-9 Association, a 501-C3 non-profit organization. During this time of budget crisis throughout the nation, the founders of CK9A want to ensure that no K-9 goes unprotected due to lack of funds.  The current members of the Capital K-9 Association whole-heartedly understands the importance of protecting working K-9’s. These K-9’s are not only a work partner for the Officers who are honored to work with them, but they also become a vital part of the family and community.

Through our fundraising efforts, and the generous donations of individuals and businesses that support our organization, we have been successful in outfitting working K-9’s throughout the state of New Jersey with ballistic body armor.  The working K-9’s main goal is to “get the bad guy” and ensure his/her Handler makes it home to their family, the Capital K-9 Association’s main goal is to ensure that the K-9’s make it home too!
